The Board of the UL Foundation has confirmed that Chief Executive Officer, David Cronin, has decided to step down from the Foundation to take up a new position in the USA as President & CEO of the American Ireland Funds.
UL President Des Fitzgerald paid tribute to Mr Cronin, saying “David has overseen a very successful period of fund raising, partnership building and investment which has greatly helped the University to progress its mission. I want to acknowledge the very significant contribution which David made as CEO and I know he will continue to be an Ambassador for the University in the years ahead”.
UL Chancellor Mary Harney has also wished Mr Cronin well in his new role and acknowledged his contribution to the growth of the University over the past 10 years.
Loretta Brennan Glucksman, Chairman of the Foundation, also paid tribute and wished Mr Cronin success in his new role; “David has made a very significant contribution to the Foundation since he joined as CEO in 2008. During that time, he has played a key role in developing and managing strategic relationships with leaders in philanthropy, business, art, culture, politics and sport. While we will be very sorry to see David leave at this time, we want to express our deep appreciation for his work as CEO and for the strong legacy he will leave behind here in the University.”
