The UL Foundation is proud to support a transformative new initiative for University of Limerick students—the Insight Scholarship STEM Course Awards, generously funded by Google and coordinated by Dublin City University.
These scholarships are designed to empower first-year university students of 2024/25 from underrepresented and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, with a special emphasis on those pursuing studies in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital safety.
Each recipient will receive €5,000 per year for up to five years, along with access to a dedicated mentorship programme facilitated by Insight. This programme pairs students with senior academics and industry leaders, offering invaluable guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
We extend our warmest congratulations to the University of Limerick student awardees Robert Kenny, Rafael Junior Okafor, and Rayanne Gabyow who were formally presented with their scholarship certificates at the UL Scholarship Awards Ceremony in February 2025. The awards were presented by Professor Ann Ledwith, Interim UL Provost and Deputy President, and Anne O’Connor, Head of Access & Widening Participation, UL Student Affairs Division.
This initiative marks a significant step toward greater equity and opportunity in STEM education, and we are thrilled to be part of it.
