Mr Michael Houlihan

Michael Houlihan is a highly regarded member of the legal profession. He was County Solicitor for Clare County Council from 1976 until October 2006. Michael is now a Consultant to the firm and has continued to practise in Bindon Street since then. Michael has acted on behalf of many of Ireland’s most prominent companies and individuals. Michael’s areas of expertise include local government law, company law, litigation, professional negligence, public inquiries, tribunal law, defamation law, insurance law, employment law, family law and personal injury* law. Michael is a former President of the Law Society of Ireland and a former Chairman of Shannon Free Airport Development Company Limited and its subsidiary companies. He is a member of the International Bar Association and a former Chairman of the Litigation Division of the association. He is a member of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce and was the Chamber’s President from 1977-1979. Michael is an Honorary Member of the American Bar Association and a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Michael is a founding Director of Rural Resettlement Ireland Limited, a founding Director of Glór Irish Music Centre Limited, a Director of Ennis Civic Trust and Kilkee Civic Trust, and founding Director of the Ceifin Institute. He is a member of the Board of the Ireland Funds Limited; he is a member of the Governing Authority of the University of Limerick; he is a Director of the University Concert Hall Limited Limerick; he is a Director of the Solicitors’ Mutual Defence Fund Limited; he is Chairman of Shannon Regional Tourism Board and a founding Director of Cuan an Chláir.
