Michael Tiernan has over 30 years experience in leading regional development, asset management, property development and civil engineering. Dr Tiernan is a founding member of the Limerick Enterprise Network (LEN), which was established to support the development of new business and to provide potential entrepreneurs with advice from experienced business people. Over the years Dr Tiernan was heavily involved in community development programmes within Limerick, including fundraising for the Hunt Museum during the relocation to the old Customs House; and fundraising for a new library in Crescent College in Limerick. Dr Tiernan was one of the original organiser of the Limerick Enterprise Development Park at the old Krups factory in Roxboro, Limerick. The Business Park was established to fill the vacancy that was left when the Krups factory closed down by bringing local enterprise, training and employment to the community. It has a mix of both large & small businesses, as well as community education and training to serve the high concentration of unemployed people in the local area. Dr Tiernan is currently actively involved in the Limerick Regeneration project and has also led the drive for regional broadband for a number of years.
