UL School of Law student Jack Canning has been named as the first recipient of the inaugural Matheson Scholarship in (LLB) Law Plus. Delivered as part of UL Foundation’s 50ForFifty initiative, celebrating UL’s first 50 years, the scholarship is open to first year undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (Law Plus) students studying at the University of Limerick.
The scholarship comes with a bursary of €5,000 for the academic year and a position on the Matheson Career First programme.
Sarah Hartnett, Director of Development at the University of Limerick Foundation commented: “Scholarships can be truly transformational for students and it’s fantastic to see leading firms like Matheson demonstrate their commitment to supporting the next generation of legal professionals. Not only are UL’s Law students encouraged and rewarded through this scholarship, but they also have the opportunity to gain insight into the workings of a leading international law firm.”
