UL Engage was established in September 2015, in accordance with the University of Limerick’s Strategic Plan. Its aim is to integrate civic engagement into the University’s core missions by bringing together community partners, university staff and students to work collaboratively through a variety of programmes and projects in order to promote greater social and economic inclusion.
The focus is to engage “with” the community, supporting them to develop projects utilising community resources, rather than imposing solutions “on” them without their involvement. These projects strengthen links between the University and local community and improve the quality of life and well-being of regeneration communities through sustainable development and opening access to training and education opportunities within targeted areas.
